PureBlack's Rodger takes elite criterium

Waikato rider Shem Rodger took the honours ahead of his team-mates as the PureBlack Racing team dominated the Hamilton City Criterium elite men's race on Saturday.

Rodger outsprinted team-mates Mike Northey and Taylor Gunman.

As expected, a group from the PureBlack team broke clear just after halfway, along with Brad Carter and Elliot Crowther, and though Subway's Nick Lovegrove tried hard to pull them back, the chase was in vain.

Aaron Strong was a convincing winner in the masters race around the Hamilton central city course. Te Awamutu's Andrew Weatherley dictated the sprints in the open race to beat Tokoroa's Jim McMurray, who had earlier featured in the masters event.
