This is due to an issue with land owners consent for a portion of the course. \nKeep an eye out for 2024 information in the next few weeks. \n  \nJoin us for a celebration of the New Zealand Gravel community\, with races for everyone. \nMake it a one-day trip or stay for the full weekend\, you’ll experience some of the finest awesome gravel routes the Waikato offers. \nNew to NZ\, the 110km (2448m of climbing) and 61km (1364m of climbing)  Gravel Nationals route promises a tough gravel loop that will test the best\, with awards also available for age groups. Held on the same day\, the Gravel Fondo will use the 61km course. \nBased from the small rural community of Raglan\, all routes lead onto the gravel playground between Te Mata\, Te Uku and Raglan\, where you’ll be rewarded with glimpses of the coast\, wind turbines as you navigate the regions rough rolling gravel back roads. \nWe will reveal the routes nearer to the event date\, but watch out for a series of taster videos that will not only introduce certain parts of the course\, but will offer advice on bike choice\, what to pack\, and nutrition. \nNOTE: As part of the courses are on private property we will not reveal courses until just prior the event. Gran Fondos are mass participation cycling events that have enjoyed popularity all around the world and include courses for all levels of riding. In 2022 we bring you 3 new distances to ensure that wherever you are at in your cycling journey we have a ‘big ride’ for you. \nAll 3 rides take in the beautiful Waikato landscape with some good gradients to keep it interesting! Give yourself a challenge\, a goal to train for with friends\, and enjoy the sense of achievement that comes with participating in a Gran Fondo. \nAt the end of your ride\, take time to relax and recover with your support crew at the Event Village on Tom Voyle Park\, with live music and entertainment\, a children’s fun park\, food trucks and Good George drinks. \nCorto 30km \nThe Corto Fondo is ideal for first timers\, families and groups\, the distance is perfect for those looking to step up to their first road race or just keen to ride with family and friends. \nMidi 87km \nThe Midi Fondo is designed for those seeking an achievable but challenging ride. The course has 1338m of climbing – which then gives you some spectacular views and fun downhill sections. \nGran Fondo 165km \nThis is one for the dedicated\, and those keen to tick a 100+ miler off their list. Leaving early in the morning\, riders will tackle an epic 165km course with some solid climbs\, fast straights\, and winding descents with a total of 2111km of climbing. \nPlease note that E-Bikes are welcome but will not be eligible for prizes.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

The 6 rounds will now be completed prior to Christmas and will include one super weekend of 3 events across two days of racing. \nThe goal of the series is to provide a competitive team’s racing series where you compete in a grade that suits your ability – not your age\, have fun with your team mates and race in a safe and friendly environment. \nA six round Team based series with different grades to suit all levels\, the series offers a challenge to all competitive cyclists. Whether you’re an elite rider\, up and coming junior\, veteran competitor or just a keen weekend warrior there is a grade for you. The sleepy rural community of Te Akau has some of the best gravel roads in the North Island and we are back for the 2021 version of the Te Akau Gravel Buster. \nRace starts with a 7.2km section of sealed road\, but that is pretty much it with just another 1.6km of seal over the rest of the course. \nGravel surface is generally good with nice wheel tracks to ride in\, but watch for the unexpected pot holes! \nThere is 976m of climbing with 555m of this is in the last 35km of the long course\, most is gentle climbing between 4% to 6% . Obviously this means for the short ride you have most of the hills. \nTake some care on a couple of the fast downhill sections\, or you could end up down the bank with some gravel rash![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
