Category Selection

CATEGORY 1

Riders in this grade will be made up of Elite / Senior Men, U23 Men & Under 19 Men. You will clearly know if this is your grade.

CATEGORY 2

This grade is for those who are not quite up to the Elite level and the top master’s riders. A mixture of A & B Grade at the TA Club events. Maybe doing Taupo up to 4hr 30.

CATEGORY 3

This grade is where we see the next level of masters riders and the better recreational riders. A mixture of B & C Grade at the TA Club events. Maybe doing Taupo up to 5hr approx.

CATEGORY 4

This grade is where we see the next level down of masters riders and recreational riders. Maybe riding C Grade at the TA Club events. Maybe doing Taupo between 5hr to 5hr30 approx.

We understand that not all Club Grades are the same, for example B Grade at Te Awamutu may not equate to the same as B Grade in Rotorua.

CATEGORY 5

This grade is where we see the more social riders being entered.  Equal to say D Grade and some C Grade from TA Club events. Over 5hr 30 for Taupo.

Note

  • To help select your category if you have not taken part in the Team Series, have a look at the PDF results sheet of one race and see if there are riders who you know and that should help you with selecting your correct category.
  • There is no separate category for women riders. You will need to select the grade that suits your ability. Most competitors who rode in the Open Women in the Team series would generally select Category 5.
  • How do you select your grade? You will clearly know if you should be riding in the Cat 1 or 2 grades. The Cat 3 & 4 grades may take a little more thought.
